MCMF Drive thru food distribution Jan 10th. 10 am to 3 pm

MCMF is having its Drive-thru food distribution on Sunday, Jan 10, 2021. Pl register https://tinyurl.com/y67gppab. Volunteers needed to load the cars and traffic control. It is an outdoor activity with masks and social distancing and SSL  hours will be given.  We need 4 youth project managers who can manage a group of volunteers. Dec 19th MCMF and County Holiday Gift Basket Program

On Dec 19th, MCMF in coalition with the County Holiday Gift Basket Program held its Drive-thru distribution at the MCMF office. Volunteers distributed food boxes and Turkeys to 135 families and 50 families are picking up toys and food boxes this week.   We thank our Board members- Nasreen Khan, Javed Choudhry, Dr. TO, and our youth volunteers who stood outside in freezing temperatures and loaded the cars. We want to thank Naba Syed our youth social media lead coordinator who covered the program and also December food pantry distribution and posted on the social media. Thank you Naba and welcome to the MCMF family!

December 13, 2020 MCMF Food Pantry Holiday Gift Basket Distribution serves 40,000 pounds of food to over 2000 individuals

MCMF, a grass-root nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Montgomery County, Maryland was established in 2008 to exclusively pursue humanitarian work in the county. It’s mission is to assist the needy residents of the county and encourage and promote the resident Muslim community’s involvement in the county.

MCMF is engaged in multiple charitable projects in the county but since the pandemic working to address the growing food insecurity in our communities. On December 13, MCMF Food Pantry program held its Holiday Drive-Thru Distribution at the MCMF office and distributed 40,000 pounds of food to low-income families in Montgomery County. Over 550 cars lined up in the early hours to receive food baskets. MCMF distributed over 60 lbs. of food to each family serving over 2000 individuals. The food boxes containing rice, pasta, pasta sauces, oil, milk, peanut butter, chicken and bags of fresh produce stuffed with onions, potatoes, cabbage, and carrots were loaded by volunteers in the trunks of the cars.

County Executive Marc Elrich, County Council Vice President Gabe Albornoz, County Council member Sydney Katz, County Council member Evan Glass attended the event and all commended the work of MCMF. County Executive issued a proclamation to MCMF for their services to the community. Ms.Aruna Miller, a former member of MD house of delegates, District 15 Montgomery County, and her husband attended the event and helped volunteers load food boxes in the cars. Santa made a surprise appearance and distributed candies to the kids in the cars. Ms. Miller praised the services of MCMF and added that that the event was a “festive uplifting and exhilarating experience”

Since the beginning of the pandemic, MCMF has distributed over 178,000 lbs. pounds of food to low-income families in Montgomery county. MCMF holiday gift basket program distribution will be held in collaboration with the MOCO holiday basket program on December 18th and will serve Christmas dinners to 175 families.  For more information to donate or volunteer please log on to mcmfmd.org
