Our Work & Past Performance

MLK Day of Service

On January 21, 2015, MCMF Board and other members together with about 2,000 other volunteers participated in the annual Montgomery County Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event held at the North Bethesda Marriott Conference Center. MCMF sponsored two project tables that benefitted the Tiny Treasures Program at the Children's Inn at NIH. Our volunteers made more than 250 colorful rubber band balls for young patients.

Food Collection Drive

MCMF held a successful Food Collection Drive at 10 local giant stores and collected more than 18000 lbs of non-perishable food items that helped families and individuals going through hard times as well as to address the shortage of food items in local food bank – Manna Food Center. Thanks to a large number of volunteers.

Feed the Homeless

During the week of July 21, 2014 to July 27, 2014 in the month of Ramadan, MCMF, in partnership with Interfaith Works, conducted a Feed the Homeless program as part of its 'Fighting Hunger' Campaign. Breakfast and lunch was provided to the homeless, as well as warm dinner to 35 homeless women at the Community Based Shelter in Rockville.

Interfaith Iftar Dinner

On July 23, 2014 MCMF, along with Montgomery County Muslim Council and the Montgomery County Executive Ike Legette through the office of Community Partnerships hosted the annual Iftar Celebration in the Executive Office Building Auditorium. More than 320 families attended the celebration. The County Executive Isaiah Leggett issued the official County Proclamation for the month of Ramadan and Governor O'Malley's office issued a proclamation honoring Ramadan and the Muslim Community. Others Joining this celebration included Councilmembers George Leventhal and Nancy Floreen as well as Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz.

Ramadan Clothing Drive

On the last two Friday's of Ramadan, MCMF Members and Volunteers donated more than 1,500 clothing items to a mosque and a community center (MCC and ICM) which were an integral part of our program and deserve a big thank you. Generous donations of dedicated community members who had painstakingly cleaned, organized and donated gently used clothes were critical to the success of the clothing drive.

Zabiha meat Distribution

In remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim's humility and obedience to the Almighty and in celebration of the festival of Eid ul-Azha, MCMF sacrificed 10 cows and distributed 3,500 pounds of raw meat packed into 5-7 pounds of bags among 310 needy families in the Montgomery County.

Thanksgiving Dinner Distribution

MCMF distributed 95 Thanksgiving dinners to the needy Montgomery county residents. The Dinner included Turkey with delicious sides and a grocery bag filled with sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, Marconi-Cheese, and a baked pie. MCMF was able to put smile on faces that otherwise didn't have the means to enjoy and celebrate thanksgiving with their family members.

Holiday Gift Basket

Montgomery county Muslim Foundation held its annual holiday Gift Basket distribution on Saturday 21st, December 2014 at Bethesda Chevy Chase Regional Center, Bethesda Maryland. The event was a big success. We were able to distribute 95 baskets and 108 toys to the needy families of Montgomery County, helping seniors, elderly and children of different ages. Each referral was given a Turkey, packet of stuffing, chicken, a pack of sausages, bag of onion, potato, sweet potato, and a fresh baked seasonal pie. Thank you all for making this event a success. Special thanks to donors, volunteers, parents, chair, members of the board, and staff for making this event a success.
