MONTGOMERY COUNTY EXECUTIVE MARC ELRICH, OFFICE OF HUMAN RIGHTS, MCMF AND MCMC IFTAR DINNER MAY 29, 2019

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and Department of Human Right in partnership with the Montgomery County Muslim Foundation and the Montgomery County Muslim Council hosted Iftar Dinner on May 29, 2019 at EOB Cafeteria.

The event was attended by more than 450 guests, which included large number of Montgomery County residents of diverse faith, ethnicity and background. This included faith leaders from Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and Hindu faiths. The event was attended by County Executive Marc Elrich, Council Members; Will Jawando, Evan Glass and Andrew Friedson. James Stowe, Director Department of Human Rights & Human Rights Commission members also attended the Event. In addition to the above, Representative from US Senator Chris van Hollen , Congressman John Sarbanes and Congressman Jamie Raskin attended the event.

Maryland Governor's Office was represented by Kevin Craft and Christina Wong Poy.
In addition State Senators Susan Lee and State Legislature Lily Qi and Emily Shetty also attended the event.

Highlight of the event :

1. A Proclamation issued by County Executive and County President declaring may 5, 2019 to June 4, 2029 Muslim American Ramadan (Fasting) Month.
2. Maryland Governor's Citation appreciating the work of MCMF and conveying Ramadan Greetings. This citation was read by the representatives from Governor's Office.

Another highlights of the event was MCMF's Community service award ceremony. County Executive gave certificate of appreciation to volunteers. The recipients were Montgomery County residents, Omar Asghar, Salma Faridi, Mary Hull, school counselor of Richard Montgomery and Ambassadors from American Senior Services for their exemplary service to the projects of MCMF and commitment to help the needy.

The third highlight was a Power Point Presentation giving a snapshot of the program and activities of MCMF . The PP presentation was made by Humera Ahmad, Vice President of MCMF.

The guests were served with sumptuous dinner consisting of exotic Pakistani dishes.
