MCMF Helps Closing the Hunger Gap

Thursday, 13th Jul 2017

In our affluent community, Hunger is an issue and is on the rise steadily. Montgomery County Muslim Foundation (MCMF) is committed to help the poor and needy families of Montgomery County in many ways. In support of its mission, MCMF, under the leadership of Mr. Tufail Ahmad (Chairman) and in collaboration with Manna Foods and Giant Stores, organized a Food Drive on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday April 30, 2017.

About 100 volunteers from diverse backgrounds (Chinese, Indians, Egyptians, Pakistani, Spanish and Arabs) participated and collected more than 11,000 lbs of non-perishable food items that were subsequently donated to Manna Food Center in the pursuit to fight the Hunger.

On July 9th MCMF, held its Annual Community Cookout at the Black Hill Regional Park that was attended by several hundred people. This gathering was designed to thank and appreciate the volunteers whose efforts were essential to the Food Drive and all of MCMF work throughout the year. Volunteers were awarded Certificates of Appreciation for their efforts in helping families across Montgomery County. A number of Public Officials including Ike Leggett, Roger Berliner, George Leventhal, Nancy Floreen and Marc Ehlric attended the event and acknowledged the importance of the work being done by MCMF.

County Executive - Ike Leggett, commended the MCMF for all its charitable as well as interfaith activities that is making our county a better place for everyone to call home.

George Leventhal said that MCMF exemplifies the Muslim principles of Charity as well as Good deeds and remarked that I deeply appreciate MCMF's participation in Montgomery County's vigorous charitable enterprise.
