NOURISHING LIVES IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Muslim community and the larger Montgomery County community

Montgomery County Muslim Foundation (MCMF) is a grassroots, non-profit, tax exempt, charitable organization in Montgomery County, Maryland

Charity Programs

Food Drive

Every year in spring, MCMF partnering with Giant Food Stores, conducts this signature program to help families and individuals going through hard times as well as to address the shortage of food items in local food bank – Manna Food Center.

It is a voluntary effort undertaken by the MCMF to collect non-perishable food items for distribution to local food bank. Collection bins are also set up at Islamic centers and community centers. The most wanted items are canned fruits, canned vegetables, multigrain cereals, grains, canned proteins, soups, 100 percent juice (all sizes), condiments, snacks, baking goods, hygiene items, paper products and household items.

This campaign gives MCMF the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Montgomery County residents and demonstrates our commitment to helping those in need.

Feed the Homeless

MCMF partnering with "Interfaith Works" conducts this program by providing pre-cooked meals and beverages to the residents of a Homeless Women's Assessment Center in Rockville; MD.
This campaign, undertaken by MCMF with the following objectives in mind, provides us the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those Montgomery County residents who are facing challenges under different circumstances.

  • Serve nutritious, healthy meals to families in need.
  • Care for the needs of those who can't afford and considered less fortunate.
  • Bring practical assistance to those caught in desperate need and extreme suffering.
  • Help families and individuals going through hard times

Note: According to statistics provided by Feeding America, in 2012, 46.2 million Americans were living in poverty and 50.1 million Americans lived in food insecure households.

Zabiha Meat Distribution

Every year, in remembrance of Prophet Abraham's (Ibrahim) humility and obedience to the Almighty and in celebration of the festival of Eid al-Adha, MCMF sacrifices cows and distributes raw meat among the needy families in Montgomery County.

This signature program undertaken by MCMF in collaboration with Montgomery County also demonstrates our commitment towards the movement to mitigate hunger and helping those in need. 100% of the meat is distributed among deserving families of all creeds in Montgomery County.

MCMF has partnered with "Impact Silver Spring" and has been distributing the meat to eliminate hunger in Montgomery County regardless of race, religion, gender and social background.

Signature Holiday Events

MCMF undertakes THREE signature holiday events every year. These events – Holiday Gift Basket Program, Thanksgiving Dinner and Distribution of blankets/warm clothing take place around Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Through these events, MCMF puts smile on the faces of seniors, elders, children, and are evidence that the few can impact many and hundreds can impact thousands.

In combining the totals for these three events MCMF provides services to over 1,000 needy residents of the Montgomery County. These services include providing Turkeys, Fresh Produce, Holiday Gift Baskets, Blankets, Warm clothing, Toys for children and much more.

Our mission behind the "Signature Holiday Events" is to reach out to those who have fallen down or fallen behind or to those who may have stumbled - they are our friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
