Muslim community and the larger Montgomery County community

Montgomery County Muslim Foundation (MCMF) is a grassroots, non-profit, tax exempt, charitable organization in Montgomery County, Maryland

Chairman's Message

Dear Friends,

I am grateful to the community members who attended and actively participated in the Annual General Body meeting of members on March 27, 2016.

The MCMF is a charitable organization and its future depends on active participation of the community in its various programs. It is very important that the Muslim community involves itself in charity work in the County to counter the stereotype perception created by a few who call themselves Muslims but engage in terrorist activities.

For those who could not attend the meeting, it is important to inform them that the meeting discussed the past performance and future prospects of the MCMF and its annual financial statement for 2015. It also held elections for the vacant seats on the Board of Directors and the Executive Council.

I would like to convey to the general members a few messages that came out of the Annual General meeting.

First, it is important that we increase our membership which stands at 250. We have a large Muslim community residing in the Montgomery County and a larger membership is in order. The membership is free and can be acquired by signing and submitting the membership form that is available on this website and also at the office of the MCMF.

Second, we have considerably expanded the charitable programs for feeding and clothing the poor, providing services to the seniors and creating a platform for the youth for their career and personality development. All members are encouraged to get themselves and their school- going children involved in various activities being organized by the MCMF.

Third, we have an active seniors group that is regularly engaged in weekly meetings, Yoga exercise and computer training. We also regularly arrange visits to places of interest for them and provide free transportation. The seniors are encouraged to take advantage of the facilities created by the MCMF and join the seniors group.

Fourth, the MCMF needs financial support to feed the hungry and help the poor, in particular through its Food Pantry. The financial contributions are tax deductible and can be made both through the website and directly by sending them to the office address.

Finally, I particularly encourage parents to get their children involved in voluntary work of the MCMF hoping that they will gradually take over its management as well.

Tufail Ahmad
Chairman, Board of Directors MCMF
